Three of EMCC's Reflection Singers will be serving as college singing student inters for the choir of First United Methodist Church, Columbus, MS. These three young men are singing during the Sunday morning 11am service and in Christmas music rehearsals. They will sing with the choir for their upcoming Christmas concert. These three young men were referred by Wendy Smith, Reflection Singers director, to Doug Browning, Minister of Music for FUMC, Columbus. Browning was in need of male vocalists for his choir and made contact with EMCC. EMCC was very honored to supply three young men to help with the upcoming program.
According to Doug Browning, “the program will be on December the 14th at 11:00. It will be aired live during our service. The program is called, "Together for Christmas" and will have musical contributions from all ages that participate in our choral program. There will be offerings from our instrumentalist like our organist and handbell Choir. It will have a cappella works as well as numbers from notable composers such as JS Bach and GF Handel.“
EMCC is very excited to have three of our finest vocalists participating in this event. Photo – from left to right – Anthony Brown, Columbus, MS; Konrad Davis, Columbus, MS; Samuel Jackson, Starkville, MS

Bragging on my students …
“I wanted to let everyone know that 100 percent of EMCC’s nursing students have passed the NCLEX-PN exam. By comparison, the Mississippi pass rate was 89 percent. You will also hear this test called the state board exam. The acronym stands for National Council Licensure Exam – Practical Nurses. Students like Shannon Rhea and Lisa Wilcher, in the photo at left, must take and pass the exam before they can work as nurses. The difficulty level for the state board exam is raised every five years. In April of this year, the level was raised, and our students were part of the first group to take the new test.”
